Combining Sardinia with cycling tourism results in a fantastic trip. Off the west coast of Italy lies this island, one of the largest and most beautiful in the Mediterranean Sea. Spanning approximately 24,000 km², Sardinia offers an incredible diversity of landscapes that make it a perfect destination for cycling: white sandy beaches, imposing cliffs, mountains that rise from the sea to a height of 1,834 m, lush forests, rivers, and lakes. All in all, the island is a true paradise that invites you to unleash your senses. We have chosen the southwest coast of Sardinia, where we will explore a combination of breathtaking scenery, peaceful roads, and charming villages. Our 5-stage tour starts in Cabras and finishes in Pula, covering a distance of approximately 254 km.

Description

Day 1 – Meeting in Cabras
Arrival of participants in Cabras, a picturesque town famous for its lagoon and as the gateway to the Sinis Peninsula. Meeting with the group, bicycle distribution, and welcome talk. Free time to explore the historic center or visit the beaches of Is Arutas, renowned for their quartz sand. Welcome dinner featuring local flavors: bottarga, fresh fish, and Sardinian wines.

Day 2 – From Cabras to Torre dei Corsari - km 44
The first stage takes us along the western coast. We pass through rugged landscapes, dunes, and the deep blue sea. We cross agricultural areas and small villages until we reach Torre dei Corsari, a magical place with expansive beaches and golden dunes. This section combines paved roads and coastal paths, with open views of the Mediterranean. At the end of the day, relax on the beach and enjoy dinner overlooking the sea.

Day 3 – From Torre dei Corsari to Buggerru – km 65
A challenging and spectacular stage. The route winds through hills covered in Mediterranean scrub, with climbs and descents that offer incredible panoramic views of the cliffs. It crosses the green coast and arrives in Buggerru, a former mining town nestled between mountains and sea. Here, mining history blends with active tourism: a perfect place to relax and enjoy the charm of a small, welcoming port.

Day 4 – From Buggerru to Sant'Antioco – km 63
We head south, passing hidden coves and stretches of wild coastline, until we reach Portoscuso, where we take the bridge or ferry to the island of Sant'Antioco. This island, connected to Sardinia by an isthmus, preserves Phoenician remains and a truly authentic maritime atmosphere. Upon arrival in the village of the same name, the cobbled streets and the aromas of Sardinian cuisine invite you to enjoy a peaceful evening.

Day 5 – From Sant'Antioco to Sant' Anna Arresi – km 43

We set off from the picturesque historic center of Sant'Antioco, leaving the maritime atmosphere behind and crossing the isthmus that connects the island to the mainland. The first few kilometers are gentle and open, skirting lagoons where it's common to see flamingos and other birds typical of southern Sardinia.
As we approach the coast, the landscape changes: the intense blue of the sea begins to appear on the horizon and we enter the Porto Pino area, one of the most beautiful spots in the south of the island.
Here, crystal-clear waters, white sand, and the famous dunes—among the largest in Europe—await, creating an almost Caribbean setting in the heart of the Mediterranean. It's the ideal place for a break, lunch by the sea, or even a refreshing swim.
